Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are great. They truly are an inquisitive and curious bunch. Our school is also great! We are unique because we are a MicroSociety school. We incorporate the realities of life into our learning. The MicroSociety program infuses business and government concepts through all aspects of academic instruction and social skills.

Student-run businesses include a bank, courtroom, publishing center, government, library/media center, photo studio and marketplace with student manufactured items for sale.

Students write, edit and publish their own newspapers. Like a real life community, the school has its own constitution, government, elected legislative representatives, and a municipal court helps students understand how our government functions.

My Project

Well since we are a MicroSociety school one of the ventures is a Photo Studio. This photo studio requires the use of cameras as we are responsible for taking photos for other businesses and for our customers on days we are open for business.

The students will run the photo studio like a real photo studio.

We will build a clientele and will work collaboratively with other ventures to fulfill any photography projects and services needed.

The students will also learn about the history and uses of photography. The use of this camera will provide students with the opportunity to experience the use of a professional camera and really provides for a genuine and realistic experience.
