Molding the Next Serena

My Project

I recently found out that I will be the new assistant tennis coach next year for our middle school. Because we have no equipment nor the funding to provide what is needed to our students, we will need to start fresh with rackets, backpacks, ball bags, balls, and wrapping tape for the five to ten students who've asked for a chance to learn about and play tennis.

We hope to introduce the world to our next Venus and Serena!

Our students are underrepresented within the sport of tennis. We want to help them overcome that and give them a hope for a future they have been dreaming about.

We currently offer volleyball and basketball for students, and have a very small track and field team. Many of our girls admire black tennis stars and dream of being just like them. However, they'll never get there if we can't offer them training now. We would love to add a new sport that would fulfill these students' aspirations and give them more scholarship opportunities in their future. By starting so young with their training, we believe that by graduation many of them could possibly rival Venus or Serena Williams!
