My Project

As a middle school art teacher, I’m excited to offer my students hands-on experiences that integrate creativity with the principles of engineering and technology. This year, I want to introduce them to the world of pottery in a way that encourages both artistic expression and the practical application of design and engineering skills.

By using mini pottery wheels, sculpting wheels, and ceramic forming molds, students will not only explore the tactile and expressive world of ceramics but also develop critical thinking skills as they engage in the technical aspects of creating their own pieces.

They'll learn how to operate tools, troubleshoot issues with materials, and apply the principles of design engineering to their creations. This hands-on approach helps students understand the intersection of art, technology, and engineering, allowing them to see the process as both creative and technical.

Additionally, I’m requesting a digital clock to help students manage their time effectively. Pottery involves precise timing for shaping, drying, and firing, and the digital clock will help students stay on track, keeping them focused and organized as they work through the various stages of their projects.

With your support, we will build a classroom environment where students not only explore artistic techniques but also gain a deeper understanding of engineering and technology—giving them the skills they need for the future.
