My Project

I absolutely LOVE teaching. I have such a diverse group of students who come to class eager to learn. I teach in a gifted program. Sometimes, these kids can be overly critical of themselves. Engaging in art can be challenging, but soon students learn it is so much fun! And, I am constantly sneaking in learning about core subjects as students create.

Students are like the projects they will be sculpting--unique and special!

As they play with clay and color, they will be thinking about both science and art. How can they create a unique animal with a unique eye? Will they use adaptations to help it survive? Can they camouflage the habitat? The possibilities are endless!

Art is a vehicle for higher-level thinking. When students create unique connections, understanding and retention are brought to a whole new level.
