Our fourth-graders are a bright bunch of hardworking, talented students. This year I have the pleasure of teaching an inclusive class but also work with students from the entire grade level. We work with students from diverse backgrounds, students with and without disabilities, students who are gifted, and students with a multiplicity of learning styles. They are warm kind-hearted children who appreciate each other's differences.
In our class, we are committed to celebrating each other's cultural differences and learning to collaborate effectively to grow are productive citizens.
We all have different strengths and weaknesses, which we focus cultivating and sharing with others.
Our students are committed to learning. We believe the best way to learn is through real life experiences. Oftentimes, our students do not get to experience life outside of their neighborhood. We as a fourth grade team are committed to providing our students with the real life educational field experiences.
My Project
Everyday I have the pleasure of working with the most beautiful bunch of fourth graders. Many of our students have limited real world experiences and often lack background knowledge of many topics we teach. Virginia Studies is a struggle for our students because they often do not see themselves in history. It is essential that we address this need of our students by providing learning experiences they can connect to themselves.
The purpose of this trip is to provide our students, who are mostly African American, with the opportunity to see themselves in a historical aspect.
They will see the history of their ancestors and make connections to their own lives. Many of our students face day to day hardships and often struggle with self-love. They will see the resilience and beauty within their culture in hopes to provide a sense of pride.
