My Project

I teach in an urban, diverse school of three thousand students. A typical classroom can have students from Myanmar, Somalia, Bosnia, and Belarus learning side-by-side, with students who have never left the state. It makes for quite an interesting teaching and learning experience! We are a refugee relocation city, and many of our students are the sons and daughters of newly arrived immigrants. Built for two thousand students, our school is incredibly overcrowded. Even still, my goal is to make my classroom a safe and versatile space where students can reach their fullest potential!

We need new classroom tables that offer a variety of class groupings for classroom projects.

Our classroom hosts five Advanced Placement English classes. Right now, we are fortunate to have classroom tables, but they are large and don't really lend themselves to movement. I am hoping to be able to have lightweight tables where students can move them as needed to a variety of flexible classroom groupings.

These varieties of table configurations add to positive interactions among students, teaching them to work collaboratively while encouraging socio-emotional learning. It allows students to work independently or in groups, depending on their needs that day.
