Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing. They are sweet, thoughtful, and eager to learn; each of them comes with a unique set of gifts and abilities that bring such a wonderful diversity to the classroom.
Our school has a great relationship with the neighborhood in which it sits and spends a lot of time getting students involved in the community and preparing them for college, leadership, and life.
Our school community has a high rate of Special Education students and English Language Learners, and the majority of our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds.
With such a high population of Spanish speaking students and students with classroom support needs, encouragement in literacy and mathematical foundations are very important.
My Project
I have an incredible group of students that bring so much joy and character to the classroom each day. They each have something special that contributes to the amazing learning environment that we have. One thing that makes them each unique as individuals is their learning styles and abilities. My students' academic abilities span over 7 grade levels. This can make it difficult at times to use the current curriculum to meet all of their needs. We use supplemental materials, resources and videos each day to support the every changing needs of our students.
Having access to materials on teachers pay teachers, as well as classroom incentives will help increase the capacity for learning for my students and continue to give them each what they need to be the most successful.
Having incentives for my students will also help to motivate them to complete their work and persevere during difficult lessons and assignments. It will add to the ever growing positive relationship that my students have with their teacher and with myself.
