I teach the most amazing and ambitious 2nd graders that I've ever met. They are in what is considered a low level income education system, but I refuse to let that status hinder their learning experience.
A few of my students were categorized as at-risk youth, but that all changed once they met me.
I have students that were labeled "runners." When I heard that one of my students was a runner, I asked immediately "Well, what is he running from?"
This student no longer runs from the school. He runs to my class, not from it. I believe that every kid deserves a fair chance. I know too well what it's like to be a misunderstood and mislabeled student. I voluntarily chose to work in one of the lowest schools in the country because the impact and changes would be greater. Your income level should not determine your intelligence level.
My Project
I am requesting a tablet that will be used to further my professional development, manage the classroom in new tech-savvy ways, and correspond with parents from any location.
I will use this device to study and learn new teaching methods.
I will use this device to study online courses to obtain my Masters in teaching. All of my teacher editions will be stored on this tablet for quick access and reference. Grades and key notes will be digitally stored on this device for quick reference and backup.
One of the goals would be to use this device to integrate and manage Google Classroom. Most grading and assessments are now done digitally, and it’s very difficult to manage things on the go without being at the stationary classroom desktop. This addition to my classroom would be a great helping tool. I am also hoping to use it to develop and learn STEM and STEAM strategies.
