My Students

My students are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. They have a range of abilities but are all very willing to learn. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is motivation and exposure. Motivation includes being able to help each other learn. Exposure by modeling for each other gives many of them the needed motivation.

Each child learns differently, therefore I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, including whole group, small group, modeling (by teacher and peers), and centers.

My Project

As a veteran 3rd grade teacher I will be teaching reading and writing skills this year. I will have two groups of students for a total of 40-50 students daily. Between the two groups, I will have approximately 10 English Language Learners. Using a document camera will give me the ability to model writing, reading, and text marking techniques in real time for students. These are strategies and test-taking tips that will help them in all academic areas.

Exposure is key!

Exposure through modeling gives students the tools they need to learn and apply skills more effectively to become lifelong learners.
