My students need the netbook and force meter to be able to do physics experiments outside.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a poor, urban school and get excited by science. This project will allow them to expand their exploration of science to outside of the classroom.
My students are in a large, poor, urban high school.
They are smart, energetic and enthusiastic, but have limited resources. They want to explore and learn more, and this project will help them do that. They don't get to do much outside of school on their own, and this project will let them explore the world around them using high tech tools and instruments.
My Project
I am requesting a netbook computer and a force meter. I already have some other sensors to use with the netbook. Students will be using these items to explore physics in the real world. They will be using them in the elevator, school, bus, outside on the playground, and in analyzing sports activities. They will get to apply physics to real world problems and collect real world data to analyze.
This project will enable my students to experience real life science and apply physics to real world activities and events.
They are excited to do this and will learn so much more than just reading about it in a book. This project will hopefully encourage some of them to pursue careers in science and engineering.
