Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I will begin my first year of teaching at my dream school.
While I don't know what my future classroom or students will be like exactly, I know that I loved the environment at our school when I was there completing my practicum.
I also know that I want a creative space for both me and my students. I think that classrooms should be a part of the world, not necessarily confined within four walls.
My Project
I am requesting twenty yoga mats, one for each student. Students can sit on their individual mats on the grass with a book or activity. I am also requesting yoga straps, so the students can carry their mats through the hallways easily. I love the idea of taking learning outside, and these yoga mats would make it possible for my class to sit outside for a lesson.
Many of the students at my school live in troubling neighborhoods, and so do not have a chance to spend time outdoors.
Having MOLEs ready for any lesson on any particularly beautiful day would give students an opportunity to experience nature.
