Help me give my students a mobile teaching easel. This allows me to complete lessons from home due to the Covid 19 pandemic. I can write and use magnetic manipulatives! It also provides access to materials.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are all with me for special education support. Their disabilities range from cognitive delays, developmental delays, autism to emotional or specific learning disabilities. Many of these students have been with me for a few years now so we have developed cohesive relationships within my resource room. The students are all assigned to a general education homeroom and come to me for anywhere between one and four periods a day depending on their level of need. Most come for reading, writing, and math. They all benefit from small group or one to one instruction. Most have accommodations, modifications, and need supports such as multi-sensory instruction, repeated lessons, or work broken into very manageable chunks. The kids love to learn through art, games, and enjoy stories and any hands-on learning activities. They often work together, sometimes by age and sometimes the older students assist the youngest ones. It is a nurturing, calm, and engaging resource room. The space is small yet full of fun!
My Project
As a special education teacher I know what a struggle in the spring to have students simply follow computer lessons, programs, and focus on a screen for long stretches of time. I need to provide real lessons, write where they can see me (the computer white board has been hard for them as well) and use cards, magnetic letters, numbers, samples, etc. This unit provides an essential mobile classroom I can set up at home. It has a dry erase board, lined board, is magnetic, stores all materials so I don't have to step away from my computer (and saves space), and will allow me to provide kids with a more authentic teaching experience. When the pandemic is over and we return to class it would never be wasted! As a resource teacher I have centers all over my classroom for individualized IEP instruction and this would be an essential part of setting up my room to offer small group instruction. I have purchased programs, manipulatives, and try to deliver packets to my students weekly yet I need support for the mobile center/dry erase I need. I do not have a wall where I can install a large board.
