This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Along with the students that I teach for my Reading Pull Outs (lowest 25% and projected level 1's and 2's on the FSA), I also am in charge of the Teen Trendsetters Program. The students in this program consist of middle schoolers (mentors) and KG-3rd Grade students (mentees). All students within my Title I school are 90% free and reduced lunch from low-income areas.
My Project
I don’t even know where to begin in listing my ideas for using the easel! I’m excited for the opportunity to use big books and not have them falling all over. Having a dry erase board right at an arm's length to write things down the children can see. We can use the felt board to retell stories as a large group. There’s tons more storage for materials that will be used at group time and more space to keep materials to aid in transitions, so our children are never just sitting at the carpet waiting. We will be prepared with different education activities/games to keep practicing skills even if it’s only for a few minutes. Finally, the top of the easel will be used to house my monitor for my students.
