Our school is located in the Englewood neighborhood in Chicago and has been working hard to move away from the “one-size-fits-all” traditional school model to a personalized learning school model. Our principal and teachers have implemented student-centered practices. Our school’s personalized learning curriculum includes Lexia Core5 literacy program, Dreambox, an adaptive math program, and Elevate K-12 program which supports our diverse learners with live one-on-one online instruction. Each program will target the skill gaps of our students
Our principal has worked extremely hard to find monies to purchase 70 Chromebooks which provides 2 to 1 technology for our 3rd & 4th graders and diverse learners; however, we don't have the funds to purchase mobile Chromebook carts to house the computers and share between classrooms with ease and safety.
Being able to deploy our Chromebooks is essential to our curriculum and our students’ personalized learning experience. Without our deployment of mobile carts, classrooms/students will have to be scheduled a lab time outside of their classroom and instruction time only once a week. With the Chromebook carts, teachers will be able to have laptops at a 2 to 1 ratio for their students to use during instruction and for their personalized learning instructional centers within their classroom, every day, all day.
By donating to our project, you will be helping to improve gains and decrease our students’ learning gaps by enabling our teachers to individualize their learning which leads to increases in their academic achievement.
Students will be able to utilize LexiaCore5, Dreambox and Elevate K12 on a daily basis. Having Chromebooks deployed to their classrooms and accessible every day will let our students experience a new level of technology with an online teacher assisting them with the Elevate K12 program.
