Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a very large and diverse high school. They are special needs students with different learning issues but they work hard to overcome and address them. I teach special education students in both inclusion and resource English classes.
All my students want to succeed!
We work together to do our best to ensure everyone is successful. My students often just need a bit of extra assistance or a different strategy to be successful. It is my goal to make sure each one of them gets that help.
My Project
Have you ever heard the term, ¨Art on a cart¨? Well, that´s me. Only I do not teach art, I teach resource English. I average four different classrooms a year and I only teach five or six classes! That means I am on the go all the time. As a special Education teacher in an enormous high school, one of my biggest challenges is bringing all of my supplies from one room to the next. This cart solves that!
Having a cart with shelves would be a dream come true.
I could stay organized and I could assign my classes to a specific drawer so they can gain independence in taking out supplies and putting things away. This is a skill all teenagers need but especially the ones I teach.
Finally, the charging hub is a bribe to keep my students' phones out of their hands and on my desk. The reward is that their phones get to charge. It´s a brand new world, we either roll with it or get left behind.
