This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.

Many of my students don't have the ability to learn online.

Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher, it is my job to instill a love of learning and reading in our classroom. There is no better way to do this than to make sure that each child in my classroom has a physical book that they can read at home while we are involved in distance learning. Piggie and Gerald are two of our favorite book characters written by the great Mo Willems. Having a 5-in-1 book set to keep at home would be a wonderful gift for our students that they would treasure for a very long time!
