Mrs. Weinacht from Broken Arrow OK is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students an opportunity to inquire, explore, and create new solutions!
"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says, I'm Possible!" This inspirational quote from Audrey Hepburn demonstrates the motto in this exceptional classroom. As a diverse learning community, they celebrate what makes each of them special and fosters a sense of wonder. . These innovative world-changers are encouraged to try new things, problem-solve, and be unafraid to make mistakes. By using nonfiction and fictional text that applies and incorporates a stem style approach to education, the youngest learner is given the opportunity to think outside the box. Books focus on perseverance and provide a powerful example of how to embrace a problem. While a task can seem impossible, sometimes it just takes a fresh approach to overcome an obstacle!
The pandemic and the aftermath are leaving an impact on education.
More now than ever, children need safe and engaging ways to think, see, and experience how ordinary people do extraordinary things. Children are watching what happens around them. Why not captivate and motivate this bright future to think, be unafraid of failure, and to experience absolute wonderment at the beauty and magic of learning?
All children have a natural sense of wonder! Why not harness this inquiry and support children as they safely explore ways to solve problems? This pandemic has been hard on everyone, including our most vulnerable population. The materials in this grant will give students an opportunity to experience tenacity and the feeling of pride when they achieve something they once thought impossible. By using books that focus on real people achieving extraordinary things, students can relate and feel safe to try. They are encouraged and shown it is ok to mess up. The greatest inventors didn't discover their life's work the very first time they tried. It is ok to make mistakes along the way and learn to tackle an obstacle from a different point. By providing a safe space for our youngest learners, we can overcome and make the future a brighter place after Covid!
