My students need basic supplies for writing and grammar.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wolfe's classroom raised $526
This project is fully funded
My Students
Almost mission impossible.NYC teachers used to have a budget to buy supplies for students whose parents could not afford them. This budget has been eliminated. Each ear my colleagues and I spend hundreds of dollars out of our own pockets just for basic materials that are taken for granted elsewhere.
My students remind my of myself in a lot of ways.
They have a lot on their plates at an early age. Most of them are dealing with issues such as violence, drugs, abuse, poverty, etc. in their own homes. All they need is someone to believe in them and set them on the right path. I want to be that teacher that one teacher was for me. He showed me that education is a way out of the life I had as a child. Education should be fun and easy, but without necessary materials that are not provided, it can be extremely difficult to make learning engaging and visually stimulating. Art supplies make all of this possible.
My Project
Students will be able to use the scissors, markers, rulers, papers, and pens to create foldables for differentiated tasks such as writing various types of sentences. Decorating this task makes it much more enjoyable for students. Also, students will be able to publish their essays and poems on paper to display for everyone to see.
My students need to know that there are responsible adults in this world that do the right thing and care about them.
Unfortunately, many of them do not get this sense in their community. I hope my students will be motivated to reach their potential and when they succeed in life they will model the behavior of givers and give back to those in need.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
