Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My elementary-age students are the strongest people I know.
No matter what circumstances my students find themselves in, they show up to school each and every day with hungry minds, ready to learn and conquer the day.
The school, my classroom, and learning are the only constants in some of their lives.
My classroom is a diverse community. Each and every one of my students is unique and amazing in their own way. They have individual learning preferences and styles that drive instruction and learning in and outside of the classroom. My students are the future and I cannot wait to see all that they accomplish.
My Project
My students are obsessed with unicorns! At the beginning of the year, we have a unicorn week. We read the book "I am a Unicorn" and have a "unicorn" drop off activity for us to do every day. Glitter is sprinkled around the room as frosting horns and unicorn slime is made while incorporating sight words and "how to" writing.
Unicorns are magical and so are my students!These books will provide my students with an exciting literacy experience!
Building fluency and literacy skills are important in first grade and a good book that they love to read can help further develop these skills.
Each student will get a book and a magical experience they will never forget!
