My Students
My students are a group of 16 first grade learners in a North Las Vegas elementary school. They are eager to learn in the classroom given that majority/ if not all of their first year in elementary school was based online.
They're excited to be given the tools they need to gain the skills needed in ELA and math.
My Project
Letter sound recognition and phonics skills help children decode words sound by sound that is an essential skill in order to read independently. Students are lower academically due to distance learning and a pandemic that swept across the globe. My goal is to help students get back on track in literacy and math in order to succeed.
I want to help students gain the skills needed in phonics and math that were lost during distance learning so that they can be good readers. The items I would like are would specifically be used for students to make words, and build blending skills as well as assist in math computation.
This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.
