My Students
My students are very creative and hands on learners. They have a lot of energy and require engaging activities to foster the best learning. My students are in a mixed rural/suburban area, so we have students who live on farms as well as students who live in a typical type if suburban area so they often have different experiences and schema to build on.
My students are charismatic and actively involved in their learning.
We use data books to help track their learning progress so they are aware of where they need to improve.
My Project
This project will help with managing my carpet time. We do our phonemic awareness practice, calendar, and read alouds on the carpet in front of my room. However I do not have a rug or anything for the students to sit on so we spend instructional time getting students into rows or dealing with management issues. However, with these mats the students can know exactly where on the carpet they need to go and I can even assign specific seating spots at the carpet to help with management. I think the addition to these to my room will help tremendously!
