My students need two sets of the Hunger Games book series and lots of Expo Dry Erase markers!
This project expired on July 31, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Do you remember what it feels like to completely get lost in a book? My students are Hungry for the Hunger Games!
I teach 8th grade math at Alton Middle School in Alton, IL.
Not only do we do a lot of math problems on dry erase boards, hence the need for Expo markers, we do a lot of reading! I try to promote reading by leading by example and reading during my free time. I would love to give my students the opportunity to read the Hunger Games at their leisure in the classroom.
Expo markers are a daily tool in my classroom. Not only do I use a white board to showcase math examples, my students also use dry erase markers. We do many activities on mini white boards and our dry erase markers are constantly running out. It is a great tool for the classroom but when markers run out, we begin wasting more paper and kids don't seem as engaged.
As for the books, my students will learn to LOVE to read. These are popular books that I would love to lend to my students but am unable to.
Using white boards in the classroom is EXTREMELY helpful when we graph linear equations, translations, etc..however, I am unable to do this without markers.
My students also need some new and exciting books on our classroom bookshelf. The Hunger Games will definitely spice up the book shelf and get kids excited to check out new books!
