This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
If you know first graders, you know that they learn math best with concrete, hands on exploration. That goes doubly for language learners!
That is why I want to add these math manipulatives to my bilingual classroom.
There are colorful pattern block shapes to help teach our geometry standards and create geometric art. There are tactile place value cards for teaching number values. And, best of all, there are clocks that curl and unfurl to reveal number lines (1-12 for the hours and 1-60 for the minutes). How cool is that!?
