My Students

I am a special education teacher who specializes in communication disorders.

I work in a title 1 school with ESL students have never been exposed to higher technological thinking. My students are mainly Spanish speaking, children of migrant workers who are economically disadvantaged. These students rarely have an opportunity to discover education through technology and the excitement of learning that is created. I am certain that with these tools my students would increase their communication challenges and meet their needs in order to access their educational goals. Please help me help them.

My Project

These tablets will enhance the will to participate in lessons (i.e., speech-language), activate curiosity to access additional information for their questions (i.e., Which sites/programs are available for me?), read current affairs (i.e., president elections) and increase vocabulary (read/spelling for fun), practice their English language challenges (i.e., increase grammar by reading), browse web to discover future possibilities (i.e., What does an engineer do?), and to discover how technology can encourage learning (i.e., I wish I could use an ipad for homework).

My students would be honored to use these materials as an incentive and be greatly appreciated.

I want them to know that there is hope and that people who have succeeded their goals gain confidence and always look back and help others. I share daily with them that they are the future and should never give up, that they should strive for their dreams and goals in life. My students are very important for me as I could see myself in them. Thank you in advance for all your support.
