My Students
My students are dedicated, energetic, and creative movers who constantly seek improvement in dance. My classroom currently does not have mirrors, so when my students learn choreography or collaborate with each other, they have to rely on feedback from others to ensure their form is correct. Mirrors are a useful tool for self-correction and adjustment, allowing for a smoother learning process for individual students and the class as a whole.
My students use dance to creatively express themselves and inspire audiences!
Mirrors will help my students to develop more independence in the dance studio and to take ownership over their progress as dancers.
My Project
Students from kindergarten through 5th grades learn dance technique, history, choreography, and composition in my classroom studio. My goal is to instill a life-long love for dance in my students by offering them tools to become successful students, performers, choreographers, and even teachers if they so choose!
Many of my students may not have the opportunity to learn in a professional dance studio outside of school, in which mirrors are a valuable tool for learning proper body form, self-correction, and spatial awareness.
With mirrors in my classroom, I can teach my students more about individual body awareness and alignment in technique, as well as strategies for staging and cleaning group choreography when preparing for performances. My students can also use mirrors when engaging in partner or small group work, which will increase their creativity, independence, and confidence in their abilities. Installing mirrors in my classroom will both enrich my students' elementary dance education and help prepare them for successful careers in the dance world!
