My Project
My students need more books that reflect different cultural perspectives. These books will teach students history, authentic perspectives, and shared experiences. These types of books could help students become better global citizens and teach them ways to navigate and honor cultures, even cultures that differ from theirs.
While many of my students can access high-quality literature reflecting their lived experiences, other cultures are underrepresented in my classroom.
I've had a difficult time trying to find texts that are both grade-level appropriate and challenging.
