I am an enthusiastic early childhood teacher in New York City. I am always seeking ways to inspire my young students and give them opportunities to express themselves. My goal is to present as many different disciplines as I can into my classroom.
I am in need of art and craft materials for my young students to create great puppets, self-portraits, and paper mache images of themselves. It is extremely important to integrate art into an early childhood program. I want to make sure I have the mediums available to give the children an amazing year.
The young children I teach are very curious and ready to invent. We are in need of mini dot painters, fabric shapes, rhinestones, collage leaves, felt, paper, wiggly eyes, hair strips and lastly, collage puppets that they can design. When the children create their own masterpieces, they are proud and this is wonderful for their self-esteem. They can use their imagination to create, develop abstract thought, and practice skills such as fine motor and spacial reasoning.
Pre-k children learn through hands-on activities, and art is a big part of our day. Pre-k is a tactile grade and we need these materials at our disposal. If children do not engage in art when they are young, when will they.
I would love to give the children the opportunities within my classroom that will peek their curiosity about exploring the world around them. Please make this magical artistic journey possible.
