Help me give my students some cultural diverse books that have characters that look like them.

My Students
We are a Title I school with over 86% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. 82% of our students are African American, 17% are Hispanic, and 1% are of other ethnicities. These students make up the demographics of our school. Many of our students are transfers from low academically performing schools. When they come to us, they are one to two grade levels behind if not more.
We are a performing arts school; as well as a partial neighborhood school that houses many children from low-income neighborhoods.
Our school is located in a neighborhood that is very crime stricken. We work hard to provide our students with a different environment than what they normally encounter.
My Project
All students love to be read to. I want to be build readers that love to read independently. This love starts with a good book that they can make connections to. Students need to be able to relate to the characters and situations in a text.
These books will allow my students to see characters that look like themselves in a book.
The subject areas will allow them to build confidence in their culture and skin color. These books will not only serve as read aloud or book choice centers, but they create a safe space to discuss sensitive topics like race.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
