My Students

My classroom is full of 25 wonderful, energetic students with a wide range of interests. I have students who love to draw, students who love math, students who love reading, and students who love their after-school activities.

It is amazing to watch them encourage each other throughout the school year.

When lessons get tough as the year goes on, my students act as peer leaders in helping each other out and in offering kind words.

My students have made it clear that they learn best when using hands-on materials and when they are given opportunities to move about the classroom.

My Project

I was recently fortunate enough to receive two Lego Brick sets for my classroom. The Community Minifigures set and the Doors, Windows, and Roof Tiles set will be the perfect companion to the recently acquired Legos.

Lego Minifigures help students understand abstract ideas by role-playing what they read in a text.

Students can act out what they read in a chapter with minifigs to visualize their understandings. They can also act out word problems in math class to make them more understandable and realistic.

The Lego Doors, Windows, and Roof Tiles set will accompany the previously funded Lego Bricks as well. This set will help students recreate the settings from books that they are reading. Also, adding doors and windows to buildings helps students with measurement because they need to count brick spaces and measure it to properly fit the pieces.
