Help me give my students instant access to technology during guided reading. Using an iPad during our lesson will give us the opportunity to actively engage with the text and increase our comprehension.
The multilingual learners at my school come from over 40 different nations and speak many different languages. Many of our students are newcomers to the country and are just beginning to learn English. Despite not knowing English, these students are passionate about learning and strive to succeed.
Visuals are key for students when learning a new language to engage prior knowledge and build new connections.
My Project
Having an iPad during small group instruction will allow me to bring bright colors and visuals to my lessons, to engage my students, and to quickly adapt to their needs.
An iPad provides the flexibility I need as a teacher to actively engage my students in lessons to best meet their needs.
It puts learning at their fingertips and will allow them to interact with text using features such as highlighting, underlining and note taking all while reading to expand our comprehension.
In addition, the use of available apps on the iPad will allow me to communicate with my Newcomers quickly to ensure understanding and maximize learning.
