My Project

This project involves setting up a terrarium where fifth-grade English learners learn about the relationship between plants and animals within an enclosed environment.

Students will learn about the interdependence of plants and animals by discussing concepts such as photosynthesis, food chains, and how different species rely on each other for survival.

With allocated funds, we will use materials like a container, soil, plants, small animals (such as snails, insects, or small fish), rocks, and other necessary items for the ecosystem. Students can set up the habitat while learning about the specific needs of each organism. Students will observe and document changes within the ecosystem. They can record growth patterns, interactions between organisms, and the importance of each element in maintaining a balanced system. Toward the end of the project, the students will present their findings. They can discuss their observations, the importance of interdependence, and how changes in one component affect the entire ecosystem.

This hands-on project not only supplements the curriculum by reinforcing the science concepts but also fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and research skills among students.
