Mindset and Equity Is Essential to Building, Bright, Bold Bulbs!
I need the chance to broaden my horizons and add to my toolkit of strategies around growing innovative mindsets in our elementary minds. This three-day professional development will help me get there! Thank you.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each morning I enter the library and feel so lucky to have the opportunity to engage our students in subjects like mindfulness, bioengineering, 3-D printing, robotics, green screening, geography through Google Earth, and history such as the American Revolution.
I have the creative freedom to design lessons around topics that will engage our kids to the fullest!
I love to create fully immersive opportunities for students to take a risk and be curious. I usually institute a centers and team approach to learning where students need to conquer a task, create a prototype, or explore a previously uncharted topic. I have used Spheros, Kinetic sand, Legos, iPads, green screens, and podcasts to try to engage students in a number of ways and hopefully will be able to continue to challenge them in new ways too. Thank you for your consideration of this professional development opportunity.
My Project
This three-day institute will be an immersive way for me to learn the processes and tools needed for equity-centered design thinking. I will dive into how empathy can lead to more impactful, equitable and innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Using equity-centered design thinking and mindsets in class will allow my students to be ready to face the challenges of an ever evolving workforce.
Without real-world application, students are many times left thinking, "When will I use this?" I hope that this professional development will help me bridge that gap for kids and give me purposeful lessons that will have concrete uses. I'm so fortunate to be able to have this professional development offered within driving distance for me and I would love the chance to get to be a part of it.
