Minding Our Minutes in Math and Science

Help me give my students supplies for group work, graphing calculators for use in biology and math and visual timers to keep us on track!

My Students

Our school just celebrated its first year as an International Baccalaureate World School - launching our program and its classes completely remotely!

Our inaugural cohort of IB Diploma candidates and Course students - and now the second cohort joining them - are an amazing group of young scholars from all racial, ethnic, and cultural groups, income levels, first languages, and walks of life.

The thing that ties them together is determination, motivation, and grit!

They are athletes, musicians, club members, and exceptional young adults, all eager to follow the IB mission to "help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect."

My Project

One benefit of teaching virtually was the convenience of sharing resources and information with students by "dropping it into the chat." But - after a year and a half of looking at students through a computer screen, the LAST thing I want to promote now that we are back face-to-face is more screen time!

It has been said that the true show of mastery is the ability to teach something to someone else.

Help my students help each other reinforce their learning by taking the JamBoards live. With the extra-large sticky pads, they can create graphic organizers, posters, notes, study guides, and then enjoy gallery walks around the room.

Graphing calculators are a must for IB Biology and IB Math - in a Title 1 school with more than 60% of the student population qualified for free or reduced price lunch - I can't expect that all families can afford one, so I like to have loaners on hand.
