Mindfulness Tools for the Classroom

My Students

This year, I teach 18 kindergarteners that usually show up to school each day happy, excited, and full of energy! However, some days can be more challenging than others, as they often experience “big feelings” as a result of the events of the last twenty months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

My Project

The fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic has increased anxiety, worry and heavy emotions in even the youngest of children. As students have returned to the classroom this school year, educators have witnessed students displaying more "big feelings" than ever before.

This project will help students practice mindfulness exercises and provide activity cards, books, fidget toys, balls, and other manipulative tools to aid students in self-soothing to keep worry, anxiety and even anger at bay so they can get back to the important business of learning and experiencing all the joys of being with other children back in the classroom.
