My Project

Children's brains are 90% developed by the time they turn 5, which means their early education experiences are critical for building a strong and healthy foundation for learning. Increasing mindfulness activities and awareness at an early age is such a beneficial experiences for young children and provides them with necessary skills for self-regulation as they encounter new and sometimes overwhelming experiences in school.

With these mats I will incorporate daily yoga routines as a whole class, but also the mats will be available for students to use when they'd like to have time to themselves to either practice mindfulness and yoga, or just use learning materials in their own safe space.

The mats will be a symbol for everyone that it is time to quiet our bodies and minds and calm down our classroom. This is a necessary practice for all humans, but especially those littles who need some guidance in interpreting and providing for their body's needs.
