This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These materials, yoga blocks, a yoga blanket and coping skills activities, will help our students continue to explore the benefits of practicing mindfulness activities in a school setting. Having a student Wellness Center with an area, Zen Den, specifically dedicated to calming the central nervous system through play using manipulatives, coloring books, sound therapy, calm lighting and breathing exercises encourages students to learn how to manage their emotions in a safe setting.
Our goal is to receive additional materials so that these important mindfulness skills will become normalized and practiced often.
We are also in need of organizers for our materials and that is why I am requesting a bookshelf and yoga mat organizer. What makes our students so special is that they are so resilient despite of growing up in difficult environments and their willingness to try new things!
