Help me give my students florescent light filtering shades to help with eyestrain and headaches, aromatherapy essential oils and two oil diffusers to boost their mood, attention, and productivity, and other resources to help with mindfulness.
My students are creative, compassionate, inquisitive, and eager to acquire knowledge in engaging ways. As young teenagers, many of them are at a turning point in their lives. Peer relationships and social interactions are at the forefront. They crave independence and autonomy.
My students are highly motivated and successful when given the opportunity to use their creativity to engineer solutions through hands-on exploration, especially while utilizing technology.
My students attend a small tuition-free charter school. Many of them have been in the same classes together since the school opened. Since we cultivate a small-school environment, many of the students have sibling-like relationships.
Although we are a smaller school, we cater to a diverse population rich with culture. Some of my students come from large households and are responsible for taking care of younger siblings. Several of my students are being raised happily by grandparents, aunts or uncles. A few of my students have endured the hardships of bullying at their previous schools, and are thankful to be in an environment that is warm, welcoming, and accepting.
My students are sweet, have a thirst for knowledge, and a deep desire to express themselves creatively.
My Project
Children today are faced with an unprecedented amount of stress and anxiety—I personally feel that learning should be fun, engaging, and stress-free.
Help me create an environment that promotes tranquility, eases anxiety, encourages attention, and boosts focus.
The materials in my project will help my scholars focus on learning while boosting tranquility and mindfulness.
Studies show that kids in classrooms with softer lighting, are calmer and able to focus more in class. The reduced flicker and softer lighting is especially beneficial to students with special needs, such as autism, ADHD and sensory processing disorders. My classroom has six large florescent lights that cause many students headaches and eye strain. The light diffusers will create a perfect ambiance for focus and serenity.
