Help me give my students opportunities for mindfulness. With items such as an oil diffuser and cards for yoga poses, students can use simple yoga-based movement, breathing techniques, and mindfulness exercises to improve learning in our classroom.
We have an amazing group of young people who have come together to create a classroom filled with academic risk-taking and encouragement. The students are given opportunities to critically think, problem solve, collaborate, and encourage one another to foster creativity. Giving students the time each day to "check-in" with themselves through mindfulness activities will improve their learning in the classroom.
My students are eager to learn and even more eager to prove to themselves that they can do anything they set their minds to.
This year, we are focusing on having a growth mindset. We are willing to experience new learning environments, without the fear of failure. The classroom environment is very positive and our class works well together as a team. We are a diverse school where students come from all over the world, speaking a variety of languages. We all come together and create an amazing place to learn. Creating an environment where we can learn more about physical, mental, social and emotional skills to make our class an even better place for all of us!
My Project
Using simple yoga-based movement, breathing techniques, and mindfulness exercises, we can improve focus, learning readiness, behavior skills, physical health and emotional stability for our students. The goal is to begin to give students tools to use when navigating through life's challenges and joys in a way that fully engages heart, mind, and body. These skills are important as the students are getting ready to enter middle school.
With the rise of mental health diagnoses, over-scheduling, lack of sleep, poor diet and exercise habits, both children and adults alike are stressed and less able to cope with life’s demands.
To help the impact of today’s high-stress, fast-paced world, I want to be able to integrate an approach to wellness and mindfulness in our classroom. This will increase self-confidence and self-esteem, enhance communication, trust, empathy, teamwork and leadership skills. With your donation of these mindful tools, I can introduce students to self-regulation and relaxation skills which will improve focus and concentration at school.
