Mindfulness in the Classroom! Yoga for Students

My students need yoga mats for our yoga unit to learn mindfulness and relaxation- for the classroom and life!

My Students

I love that I get to work with all ages K-6 from the cute little Kinders, who are full of excitement and hugs to the cool 6th graders, who are able to learn and demonstrate more physically advanced activities. I enjoy teaching them new ways to exercise and help them improve their skills like agility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness, as well as learning sports and other coordination building activities. I am hoping to be able to incorporate mindfulness this year as well with yoga!

My Project

Yoga mats are needed to introduce mindfulness and yoga to the students as part of well rounded health and fitness. Students will be able to practice being self-aware and relaxed, as well as practice deep breathing exercises. Students will also be able to develop better flexibility and strength through a series of yoga poses led by their teacher.

Having yoga mats will allow the students their own personal space to practice mindfulness and yoga, and they will provide a safe and comfortable surface during the yoga sequence.

Research shows that with mindfulness practice, students will have greater success and focus in their classrooms.
