Mindfulness and Sensory Integration

My students need the following materials to properly organize and address areas of mindfulness and positivity while addressing sensory needs at the same time.

My Students

My students all have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to address their special needs. The range of classifications and diagnosis often include but are not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorder, Speech and Language Impairments, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, Behavioral/Emotional Disturbances, and Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder.

My students are still responsible for learning grade-level curriculum like all of their same-age peers.

They have additional hurdles to overcome. They get frustrated. They cry real tears. But, we pick them up, dust them off, and get them moving and grooving again. That is why I am so passionate about getting them materials that will best help them grow!

My students work hard all day to overcome their deficits so I meet them where they are at and always try to make the learning environment fun and positive.

My Project

The Mindful Monkeys resource will help me introduce the content to my students in a fun and entertaining way. The positive thinking game and Mindful activity cards will allow us to practice together in a very integrated manner. The sensory balls and organizational units will help keep things easily accessible for my students in our newly created "Peace Corner", which is where the timer will be located to allow for some self regulation strategies. Research has shown that regular mindful practice can in fact increase Amygdala sizes. Sensory input goes hand in hand with mindfulness to create a lasting difference in the brains of my students.
