Help me give my students tools like books to help us spot when emotions aren't in balance and a large variety of fidgets, squishes, timers, and brain teasers to help get our emotions back in balance.
My students are awesome! They come from a variety of different backgrounds. Most are from economically challenged parts of town. Many have parents who fled war-torn parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia. My students speak several different languages at home. Many of my students have disabilities that act as speed bumps on their road to success.
What we've all gone through in the past couple years has left so many not knowing how to regulate their own emotions.
So, we are going to actively work on this skill. These supplies include books that will help students recognize when they are dysregulated emotionally. In addition to, as a class we are working on ways for students to cope with stress in their lives. The fidgets and other sensory items are tools that will guide them as they practice skills that will help them reconnect and be successful even outside of my classroom.
