My Students
The social and emotional needs of my students are extremely important. My students speak multiple languages, have lived in various countries or within low income communities. They are learning to express their feelings and cope with new experiences. My students are resilient, resourceful, and ready to learn more!
My Project
These yoga mats will allow me to create a safe and designated space for each student. Evidence shows that mindfulness and breathing activities help students manage difficult emotions and situations. I am now trained in an evidenced based intervention that teaches students to recognize when they are feeling overwhelmed and strategies for coping.
Coming back to school after a pandemic and dealing with all types of loss, now more than ever do students need a safe space in schools strengthen their ability to process deep emotions.
Not only will this improve their mental health, but it ultimately impacts their ability to focus and learn in the classroom. I started to do this work last year and know how important it is for my students. My students are begging to do more of this work in the upcoming school year. Help me give my students the resources they need to be the best versions of themselves!
