This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are so excited to learn this year. They are part of a Title I school, and come from very interesting and diverse backgrounds. They enjoy every part of our day and make me proud to be their teacher this year.
Kindergarten is such an exciting year for students, and I'd like to help make it the best possible with this exciting project.
I would like to add yoga mats to our classroom so that I may easily incorporate mindful movement into our daily schedule with a soft place to do so. These yoga mats can be used as a flexible seating option during independent work time, as well as a soft place to rest during our quiet time each afternoon.
My Project
Over and over again, studies have shown the importance of movement (physical activity) in the life of young learners. A daily routine of some mindful movement, such as yoga, which can safely be done in a kindergarten classroom, will help improve the focus, attention, and thus performance, of each and every student in my classroom. Yoga mats will ensure each student has a safe and defined area for their movement. The yoga mats can also be used as a flexible seating option during independent work time, as well as a comfy place to lay down during our daily rest time.
