Mind Blowing! Super Exciting Science Demonstrations
Help me give my students the opportunity to see how everyday objects can be used to discover scientific phenomena from force and motion, chemical reactions, and Bernoulli's principle..
Kids don't like science. They do not understand it and therefore do not want to study science. The items listed will be used to show students how scientific phenomena can be explained in a fun and exciting way. Hopefully, this will excite students and show them how science is all around them and they do not even know it. By having simple objects such as ping pong balls, a tesla coil, gyroscope dollies to show force and motion, a leaf blower to explain Bernoulli's Principle, simple film canisters to demonstrate Newton's Laws, and chemicals to demonstrate how chemical reactions take place, I will be able to light that spark of curiosity in them. Students do not have prior knowledge of scientific principles due to the fact that they are not exposed to or expected to learn science until later in their school career.
My goal for this project is to show students that science can be both fun and exciting.
I hope that students will learn to love science and want to continue to want to learn. I hope they become the engineers, doctors, scientists, or whatever they want to become.
We are a very rural school and our community does what it can. I know my students are good kids and each one means the world to me. I do not want them to just learn from a book, I want them to hold things, play with things, experience things firsthand, and make scientific discoveries on their own and this is why we need a gyroscope, Rotating Platform, and lots more. They deserve everything that I can give them and more. They deserve to have the opportunity to see that there is so much more to offer than just what is inside the four walls of the classroom.
