My Project

I teach a group of 7th graders who are learning to live in a world in which they have to constantly exercise restraint because of how interesting and comforting their electronic devices are.

One of my goals as an educator is to support my students in making good decisions with their devices.

They know that keeping them out of reach so that they are not tempted to use them when the better thing to do is stay engaged with what the class is doing.

Giving their phones to a teacher or putting them away often feels like a loss for them. Having this charging station not only gives them agency over their device, but rewards them with a full battery after class.
