Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

March means different things to different people. For some it means March Madness and watching tons of basketball, for others it means we're one month closer to summer. For our classroom it means the start of milkweed growing season since mid-march is the perfect time to start planting narrowleaf milkweed seeds.

This spring, my students will be learning about monarch butterflies as part of our ecosystem unit and planting narrow leaf milkweed seeds to help support our local monarch populations.

With your donation, students will be able to use the donated pots to start native milkweed from seed and, when the plants are ready, take them home to plant or give them out to our local community.

In addition, we will be able to use some of the donated supplies to continue establishing a small native plant nursery on campus. Your donation of trashcans will allow us to buy and store soil in bulk and the snip tool will help students take cuttings to propagate as well as help us maintain our native habitat.
