This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My ELL Kindergarten students and Diverse Learning students are the Mighty Mousketeers. My students are from low-income homes with little or no support from home to help them with their Reading and writing skills.

They are eager to learn but lack the self-confidence and motivation to try learning.

They have difficulty thinking of letter sounds to match to alphabet letters. They can not connect to I think of the sound, I hear the sound, I will print the sound. They do not know how to use magnetic letters to create words.

Centers that have word tiles and alphabet tiles with pictures to create words would help them to practice sounds and connect to spell words. This will stimulate the adventure to learn and explore more ways to connect letters and pictures to make words and simple sentences.

My students would greatly benefit through student centers on how to use sentence strips and word tiles to create words and sentences. They would have beginning and ending letters and sounds, long and short vowel hands on learning. They would be able to create words, sound them out and spell them with picture tiles to match and connect to reading.

My Project

My students come from homes where they do not have the help they need to sound out letters and sounds. They have difficulty decoding simple sight words to read. They need to read to become independent readers and writers to reach their Kindergarten learning goals for First grade.

My centers are carefully chosen where the students have to identify a letter and the sound to decode a word and match it to a picture.

Sounding out many words encourages sentence building and reading. This build into sentence printing. The daily practice of building letters and sounds in words enforces decoding skills of words around them.

Our project will be divided into 3 projects to help us get all the materials funded that we need to create the magical classroom of reading and writing that will stimulate learning including sorting tiles and Snap & Build Sight-Words. Please help us get all our projects that we need to become independent readers and writers.
