My 5th-grade class is especially awesome this year. They come from diverse cultural backgrounds, with most of them speaking English as a second language. We are a Title 1 school in Garden Grove Unified School District where over 75% of our school's students qualify for free/reduced lunches.
My students work hard and every day they arrive with a positive attitude that's contagious.
We are all family here, so you'll be delighted to find students and teachers hanging out in the class during recess and lunch, playing games or helping one another out on assignments.
The students I will be mainstreaming into our classroom this year are on the autism spectrum. I am hoping that the use of technology in this project will help them not only with their communication skills, but also make new friends by giving them an opportunity to work with their typical peers in a setting focused on teamwork and success!
My Project
Chromebooks are an essential part of my daily instruction. Student learning has been enhanced by technology on so many levels.
During this Covid19 pandemic, they play a critical role in remote learning.
However, their constant use comes with a price (even when treated with the utmost respect). Namely, the trackpads are becoming unresponsive.
Since we don't have the resources to replace the Chromebooks, providing each student with wireless mice is the most cost-effective solution! I've already tried wired mice, and they are the worst! The cables wear down and storing/organizing a class set of 36 mice is a nightmare. Wireless mice are the answer! They use less space and are easier to work with.
