My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggles with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.
My Project
Education and the delivery of instruction have changed as a result of the pandemic. We are using Chromebooks at home and in-person and using the trackpad is difficult for many of our students as the dexterity needed to perform certain tasks is underdeveloped. By having their own mouse it will help the students complete their online assignments, ultimately increasing productivity and decreasing frustrations. It will also allow students to be more independent when it comes to tasks that require the trackpad or a mouse. A mouse will also help students improve their motor skills, specifically, their hand-eye coordination.
