I have always had a Song in My Heart, and I believe that each of my students has a Song in his/her heart as well. Many of these elementary children have their own original songs in their hearts and I would like to capture them while they are young. Who knows....there may be a future famous songwriter sitting right in my classroom! I am the music teacher at an Elementary School (K-5) in Anderson, SC. We have 860 students. I plan to emphasize National and State Music Standard #IV - COMPOSING AND ARRANGING MUSIC. This is my professional goal for 2005-2006. I will encourage my students in all levels to use MIDI technology to be able to compose and publish their own sheet music. These young composers will be entered into the Midway Composers Hall of Fame. They will be recognized in the Hall of Fame display in the building, in announcements, in newsletters, etc. Students' original songs will be featured in music classes, in assemblies and in Midway's Marvelous Musician Songbook. The Process for composing will be, as follows: 1- I will demonstrate composing a song using the keyboard and computer with the MIDI set-up. 2- I will share sample sheet music that has been published. 3-I will assist students in getting their songs entered into the computer. 4- The students will design their own cover for their sheet music using publishing software. In addition, classes will compose their own class song. I will be able to assist them through the process, which will also inspire them to develop their own works. I can share the process by using a LCD projection system with the MIDI Workstation. My request is for the following items to assist with setting up MIDWAY'S MARVELOUS MUSICIAN MIDI WORKSTATION, which will be accessible by all 860 students. 1-LCD Projector 2-Publishing Software As a young musician I was encouraged to share my music with others. As a result, I am a music educator and professional musican. I want to encourage my students to develop their special talents and be able to share them with others.
